The
Ecclesbourne Valley Railway Trust

The Trust has supported the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway for some time. Its initial grants have tended to be to support or encourage the development of new projects.
For example, the first grant which the Trust made was towards the development of a new public Booking Hall at Wirksworth to replace a portacabin which had been on site for nearly 15 years. The grant was made towards the first rental payment of the former Tannery Building which the Railway intended to use as its new facility. Although considerable additional funds have had to be found by the Railway to see this project through to its final stage of opening to the public, the Trust was extremely proud to have helped the Railway take the first step.

The Tannery Building (shown here) had been previously used as a store and the upper storey had been out of use for many years. The project involved the complete refurbishment of that part of the building in order for it to be developed for public use as the Booking Hall, effectively the first part of the railway which the public sees. As such the development of the building was extremely important for our public image. The completed building was officially opened on the 5th of February 2016.
